The corner of 11th & Mount Vernon has experienced more change in the last couple of years than it did in the hundred years before. Remember, the Ruffin Nichols Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Church and school once stood on this corner, taking up a huge chunk of land with two attractive stone buildings. In fits and starts, those buildings were demolished, with the ground finally cleared about a year ago.
