Just about the time Scotsmen John McArthur, Jr. and Alexander Calder were heading into the last decade of the construction of City Hall–built like a Scottish castle–a Scottish group was putting another stamp on this city as Edinburgh-on-the-Schuylkill: Caledonian Hall, at 13th and Spring Garden Streets.

PHILADELPHIA-Bart Blatstein, who is vying for the city’s second casino license, has replacedHard Rock Resort & Casino International as its prospective operator with Isle of Capri Casinos Inc.

Isle of Capri, based in St. Louis, MI, operates 15 casinos in the South and Midwest, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. In addition, the firm has been approved to operate the Lady Luck Casino, which is currently under construction at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County.

    Tuesday Tune-Out is an ongoing weekly series of music and movies in which a rotating lineup of guest curators choose a month’s worth of local bands, the bands in turn choose movies to screen.
