Yup, this is your rare chance to go inside the historic Divine Lorraine, which aside from the apartments, is still very much a construction zone as the lobby and rest of the building undergoes restoration. (The restaurant tenants for the lobby and basement levels have not yet been announced.)

Mixed Use Building With Green Roof Coming Next to Rail Park | Naked Philly

The Callowhill neighborhood is loaded with potential, and it’s definitely heading in the right direction, but there are still some areas that look pretty awful. The point where Ridge Avenue hits Callowhill Street is one such location, with some old warehouses, a tire store that tried to dress itself up with a mural, some vacant land, and a surface parking lot.

Although they technically broke ground in October, AP Construction spent the next few months conducting its own analysis of the site. Now that they’ve started major construction, the quarter-mile-long phase of the Rail Park is expected to finish up in early 2018—so long as CCD raises enough money.

A two-tower mixed-use development called the Hamilton is in the pipeline for a parking lot near North Broad, according to new renderings released ahead of an upcoming Civic Design Review meeting.

Designed by MY Architecture and developed by Radnor Property Group, the proposal for the Hamilton calls for 600 residential units and 8,000 square feet of retail at 440 N. 15th Street. The total proposed project clocks in at 504,035 square feet, with a 197-foot-tall tower and a shorter 131-foot-tall building, both clad in metal and glass.

The project, which is proposing a two-phase build-out, will also include 150 parking spaces, a mix of above-and below-grade.

These guys are Philadelphia’s professional blight busters

Councilman Mark Squilla was so impressed with their work that he asked the pair to tackle what might be considered the mother of all blight, the rusted, asbestos-ridden steam plant at Ninth and Willow Streets, two blocks east of  the Reading Viaduct. Since it was shut down in 1989, the looming industrial relic has become a different kind of Philadelphia landmark. Its graffiti-tagged smokestacks, which are easily visible from I-676 and I-95, have somehow remained a dominant feature of the city’s landscape for three decades.
