Carroll’s first ever performance was just Brian Hurlow, alone, smashing his feet on a broken keyboard to trigger samples. Little did he know, ambient guitar sorcerer Max Kulicke and iconic drummer Charlie Rudoy were watching from afar. They joined and took the seeds of Brian’s sadness and grew them into jungles. It was only a matter of time until Charles McClung arrived and with a wave of his wand completed the Carroll lineup with tightrope bass lines and glass synths. After months of deep touring, the scattered parts of their first full length album were arranged neatly on the floor of their Minneapolis home, and they sent them to renowned engineer Jon Low (The National, The War on Drugs, Mr. Twin Sister). Jon was game and so the band shipped out to Philly to record their eponymous Carroll (Eone, 2015) in a headrush of 18 days. Carroll’s second record, also mixed by Low, tells a story of being adrift, of orbiting in and out of the lives of others. With heavy emphasis on synth syrup and dense, classic arrangements, Carroll’s 2016 follow up pulls the listener into a blissful, sometimes chaotic futuristic world.Adler Hall

Adler Hall is a Brooklyn-based, bedroom orchestra led by composer/songwriter John Henry Hoagland (Henry). In the winter of 2016, Henry formed Adler Hall in anticipation of a fall release through Odd Gift Records. Adler Hall’s debut full-length (Tourist) – produced by friend and fellow Odd Gifter Kyle Joseph – was released September 8, 2016.
Using field recordings from Japan and Brooklyn as a backdrop for its storytelling, (Tourist) explores the places – both near and far – where we struggle to reconcile what we look for with what we find.Lizdelise
http://lizdelise.com/
Lizdelise is a dreamy rock/pop duo from Philadelphia. Angular guitar lines meet looper and drum machine to create energized, intricate soundscapes — and a serious amount of noise for two people. After Liz released her first solo full length in September 2016, Liz and Mark joined forces, hopped in Liz’s 1994 GMC, and drove across the US and back. They’re now working on their first collaborative full length. (For fans of St. Vincent, Handsome Furs, Wye Oak.)

The Ultimate Esoteric Guide to Twin Peaks | Evolve + Ascend

If you’ve ever sensed the flimsy, thin veneer of what parades itself as the good ole US of A, and felt a bit like you’ve been sold a fake, then David Lynch’s Twin Peaks is a series you must see. More like an initiatory experience than a mere television series, Twin Peaks functions as a hilariously terrifying vision of the real America lurking in the seedy underworld beneath the façade of white picket fences, much like the picturesque severed ear on the beautiful lawn in his celebrated 1986 comedic horror, Blue Velvet. Twin Peaks might even properly be titled an esoteric dark satirical soap opera. There are countless reviews, essays and analyses of Lynch and Twin Peaks, but almost all miss the complex system of symbols and hidden meanings that relate directly to high level occultism.
