1315 Gallery: Call for Visual Artists From the Fringe

In a nod to Philadelphia’s long running Fringe Festival, in which experimental performing artists show their work to the public, we at Gallery 1315 are calling for visual artists who would like to show their experimental work.

Do you have a body of work that you consider experimental? Perhaps it’s an unusual medium for you, or a new subject or maybe no subject. We’re looking for work from the fringes of your own imagination.

MEDIUMS:
Work can be two or three dimensional, as long as it can hang securely on the wall. No all digital work, except for digitally printed photographs, will be accepted.
2 D work cannot be larger than 40 inches on any side, and there are only about 3 spots in the gallery that will accommodate work that big.
3 D work cannot protrude more than 10 inches from the wall.

We can accommodate up to 30 pieces of small to medium size artwork. We’d prefer to hang 2 – 3 pieces of each artist’s work, so we’re looking for about 10 artists.

HOW TO SUBMIT
Send good quality images of up to 5 pieces of work to [email protected]
Image size should be no larger than 1000 pixels per side
Include your name, phone number, website, and street address/city with submission
Include a numbered worklist with titles, mediums and sizes, including frames, with submission
Is the work a multiple?

Explain briefly how this work fits the theme, in other words in what sense it is experimental.

There is no charge for submissions, but make sure to send accurate representations of the work.
(In other words don’t waste your time or our time with illegible submissions or cockeyed photos)

Between the beautiful weather, the Backyard Barbecue at The Trestle Inn (featuring sidewalk burlesque by Bella Tricks), and the “Sweet Lovin’” Proposition Tent sponsored by Fringe Arts, Philadelphia’s post-industrial “Eraserhood” neighborhood was filled with light, love, and beauty this lovely July First Friday.
