Last spring we met for study, reflection and discussion of Grace Lee Boggs’ & Scott Kurashige’s book, The Next American Revolution: Sustainable Activism for the 21st Century. Let’s resume (or begin) our study of this important book with chapter 4 (“Detroit, Place and Space to Begin Anew”).

STUDY: The Next American Revolution

Thursday, May 23
6 pm to 8 pm
@FACT Charter School
1023 Callowhill Street

Legendary theorist and activist, Grace Lee Boggs, has written a profoundly inspiring book, and we are looking forward to discussing it with members of our AAU community.

What does it mean that the industrial age is over?
How will post-industrial realities impact our struggles for social and economic justice?
How do conditions of life in de-industrialized cities like Philadelphia present both challenges and opportunities?
What will it take to create new strategies and methods for social change?

This reading pushes us to try on new ideas, shares experiences from work in Detroit, and inspires us with examples of what others are doing.

RSVP: email [email protected]. Let us know if you can participate. We can send you study questions, sell you a copy of the book, or share the excerpt (Chapter 4) we will be reading. We hope that folks will read as much as they are able, and we will make the discussion lively and accessible to all.
