The photo above clearly indicates that workers have returned to this building, and are set upon the task of renovating it into twenty rental apartments. As you can see, it doesn’t seem like they’ve been able to preserve the original bays- we’re guessing they were pretty rotted out after years of likely exposure to the elements. But the good news is that the old bays are being replaced with new bays that appear to match the shapes of the bays they’re replacing. Whether the finish details will be there as well, we won’t know for many months.

From our Logan Square Neighbors:

Logan Square Neighbors Association has arranged for a presentation to the near neighbors of a proposed development project at Broad and Callowhill streets on Tuesday, July 16 at the Watermark located between 18th and 19th Streets, South of Callowhill and North of Vine. It will be the third of three presentations that night and will start about 7:30. (The first, at 6:30, will be the Museum Towers II project between 19th and 18th below Spring Garden. The second presentation will be by Cross Properties for a proposed project behind the Rodin Museum )

All are welcome to attend all presentations.

The presentations will be in their main conference area, which is very large. Ask at the front desk and they will know where to direct you. We  sorry for this late notice, but the location was not finalized until last night.

CNA will host a presentation meeting for the Broad and Callowhill (south side of Callowhill, both sides of Broad- retail and residential) project at a later date.

Bosnian Rainbows
with Sister Crayon and Mohican

21 years and over

Bosnian Rainbows is a new band featuring Teri Gender Bender (Le Butcherettes), Nicci Kasper (Kudu, KRS-ONE), Deantoni Parks (John Cale, The Mars Volta), and Omar Rodriguez Lopez (The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In). The group formed during the summer of 2012 and will release their self-titled debut LP in early summer 2013 on Sargent House. While the four members’ respective pedigrees are as distinctive as the names they’re attached to, the group itself is an entity all its own, unlike any other project any of them have been in. You could argue that they’re using it to redefine their entire approach to making music.

For SAVAGES, the intention was to create a sound, indestructible
and musically solid, written for the stage, designed with enough
nuances to provide a wide range of emotions. The songs aim to remind us that human beings haven’t evolved so much, that music can still be straight to the point, efficient and exciting.

If you’re going to throw a party that celebrates the oddities of David Lynch through film, stage and gallery, PhilaMOCA — i.e., The Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art —would be just the spot to do it. The art venue was once a showroom for tombstones and the like. Not to mention the fact that it’s sitting in the heart of the Eraserhood — an area once home to Lynch himself, and an inspiration for his movie “Eraserhead.” PhilaMOCA’s Eraserhood Forever (and Ever) pays homage to the man and the city, and it’s attracting all the weirdos. – See more at: http://www.metro.us/philadelphia/entertainment/arts/2013/07/09/celebrating-eraserhead-in-eraserhood/#sthash.E0q5s2Ks.dpuf

eraserhood:

July has definitely turned out to be a banner month for Eraserhood related events!

  • It all started on July 2, downtown at Cafe 12, where eraserhood.com photographer Bob Bruhin opened his Greetings from the Eraserhood photo exhibition in conjunction with the Photographic Society of Philadelphia. This show, featuring Bruhin’s “twisted views of a demented square mile,” will be hanging through August. More information at http://phillyphotosociety.tumblr.com/post/53279013346/
  • Unless you have been living inside a radiator, you already know the next big event in the July Eraserhood calendar begins at 6:30pm this Friday with the grand opening of PhilaMOCA’s Eraserhood Forever (and Ever) art and performance event (with after-party at The Trestle Inn, featuring Eraserhood-themed drinks). (…and yes, Bruhin from eraserhood.com will have two images in this exhibit. You may see his face in other places that evening, as well.) If this is anything at all like last year’s event, it promises to be the Eraserhood event of the season! More information at https://www.facebook.com/events/524477577593602/
  • Finally, on Tuesday July 23, we will be rebooting ourselves here at eraserhood.com. This reboot will include the addition of talented new staff, exciting new content, and a totally revamped website. More details on this as the date approaches.
