The 2012 edition of The 215 Festival will be held from November 1-4, with all events being held in the Eraserhood. The Eraserhood, of course, being the part of town where legendary noir fiction writer David Goodis once roamed, drunk and alone, and where David Lynch once accompanied himself home with a splintery two-by-four with nails hanging out of it, lest he meet evildoers. The place has come a long way since the 20th Century, and we’re pleased to tell you that events will be hosted at Underground Arts, PhilaMOCA, The Trestle Inn and other spaces in and around the neighborhood.

[So looking forward to this!]

Park for a Day?

According to the Philadelphia Park‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎(ing)‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ Day 2012 map, Kate Farquhar & Ann Marie Schneider will be converting a parking space here at 329 North 11th Street into a miniature park on September 21, 2012:

The number of parks throughout Philadelphia increases dramatically each year on the second Friday in September, when activists, artists, architects, and other citizens transform metered parking spaces into temporary public parks. Known as Park(ing) Day, this annual event re-imagines the possibilities of 170 square feet of public space.  The event celebrates parks and other public spaces in cities across the country, and raises awareness of the need for more pedestrian-friendly spaces in our urban areas.

So if you stroll by on Friday, please snap a photo or two and email them to [email protected]. It would be awesome to have some photos of this event submitted!

Geekadelphia favorite Jess Conda is currently thrilling Fringe audiences with Eternal Glamnation, a cabaret that explores the disintegration (and subsequent liberation) of a nuclear family through the wonders of glam rock.

The piece is the second part of Brat Productions’ Brat Rockpile double feature that also includes Madi Distefano’s harrowing one-woman show Popsicle’s Departure, 1989.

Conda was gracious enough to take time out of her performance-packed schedule to discuss everything from the origin of this double bill to the eternal wonders of David Bowie. Take a look.
