The Reading Viaduct lost one its most passionate advocates last week with the sudden passing of Paul vanMeter. On February 6 vanMeter died of natural causes at the age of 54. In addition to his diverse work as a landscape gardener, writer, and artist, Paul vanMeter was a visionary force behind VIADUCTgreene, a nonprofit dedicated to imagining a new future for three miles of the Reading Viaduct in Philadelphia.
EVEN ON OFF DAYS, Eric Bresler is never really off.
On his workdays, Bresler, 34, of Fishtown, is the director and curator of the Philadelphia Mausoleum of Contemporary Art (PhilaMOCA), which holds weekly film and music performances.
The art space, on 12th Street above Spring Garden in North Philadelphia, housed inside a former showroom for tombstones, holds more than 250 events a year.
The coffee shop will be a little different than most, it will also be a used book store and tattoo parlor. The shop will serve One Village Coffee, Le Bus pastries and snacks plus housemade soups, salads and sandwiches. In addition to the coffee there will also be sodas and juices.
