Part art exhibition, part social experiment, Blind Date showcases the cross-disciplinary collaborations between 28 visual, performance and literary artists, all culled from an open call and divided into 14 “couples.” In hopes of creating the most dynamic duos, curators Jared Dyer and Dorothy Dubrule selected and matched the artists using their submitted work sample, artist statement and responses to a Love Connection-style questionnaire. You know, corny questions like, What would you do on an ideal day off? and What do you consider the most important quality in a partner?

forkadelphia:

The area north of Vine and east of Broad is rapidly outgrowing the zombie-movie-moniker “Eraserhood” and starting to live up to the realtor-preferred Loft District. Jenniphur and Michael Pasquarello’s trio of restaurants play a huge part in that narrative, and after a Sunday brunch visit to Bufad, the newest, it’s easy to see why. The intensely flavorful crust on the Neapolitan pies make the pizzeria a rightful destination.

July is shaping up to be a banner month for Eraserhood related events!

  • It all starts at 6pm on July 2, downtown at Cafe 12, where eraserhood.com photographer Bob Bruhin will be opening his Greetings from the Eraserhood photo exhibition in conjunction with the Photographic Society of Philadelphia. More information at http://phillyphotosociety.tumblr.com/post/53279013346/
  • The next big event in the July Eraserhood calendar begins at 6:30pm July 12 with the grand opening of PhilaMOCA’s Eraserhood Forever (and Ever) art and performance event (with after-party at The Trestle Inn, featuring Eraserhood-themed drinks). If this is anything at all like last year’s event, it promises to be the Eraserhood event of the season! More information at https://www.facebook.com/events/524477577593602/
  • Finally, on Tuesday July 23, we will be rebooting ourselves here at eraserhood.com. This reboot will include the addition of talented new staff, exciting new content, and a totally revamped website. More details on this as the date approaches.

21 years and over

With very few exceptions, Hip Hop anthems have their popularity, and perhaps resurgence among a new generation of fans – then they go on to the next anthem. Not so for Souls of Mischief’s seminal classic ‘93 ‘til Infinity, which has remained popular for a 20-year run and counting. 50-somethings all the way down to tweens know every word to the song, which was born when A-Plus bought a dollar record by Billy Cobham (Heather) and began to sample it, adding his now-signature rhythms, drum patterns, and more.
